Learnerships
HCI Coal offers learnerships in engineering (fitters, electricians, boilermakers) providing opportunities to our employees and applicants from local areas. Formal training is either completed at the Artisan Training Institute or the Colliery Training College in Emalahleni. Both Institutions are accredited training providers for the relevant Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) qualifications offered. Workplace training is conducted at Mbali and Palesa Coal. HCI Coal pays for the training and learners receive a monthly allowance for the duration of their learnership.
In 2017 both Mines embarked on a Learnership Programme to address scarce skills requirements of the mining industry.
